18 Weeks

Today I am 18 weeks preggers and feeling great. The picture shows that I am getting bigger and I definitely feel like it. Stretchy pants are my new favorite thing. Although, I'm trying not to wear them too often, at least not in public! I've purchased a few maternity shirts and have been wearing them, but I need more. They are definitely more flattering than most of my other shirts and more comfortable. I guess I'll just have to go shopping again!!

I'm kind of frustrated because I don't think that I've felt Raisin move yet. I've felt a few feelings, but I'm just not convinced that it's my baby. I keep reading that it should be happening soon, and I am very anxious. I just know that once I can identify those feelings, the pregnancy will feel even more real.

I am really starting to get nervous about how much we have to do before Raisin comes. We haven't really done anything yet, and it seems like the next few weeks are already booking up with other obligations. We need to make a trip to Dallas (our small town doesn't have what we need) to scout out furniture and other baby items. It's so frustrating that we have to drive 2 hours one way just to accomplish this. And you can only do so much on the Internet. We also need to switch 2 of the bedrooms in the house to get the nursery ready. But to do that, we have to find a place to put all of the furniture in the one bedroom before we move it!! AHH!

Trying not to stress too much, I know it's bad for Raisin.

I Am So Martha

I am so Martha Stewart. I have officially completed my recent sewing project of making drapery panels for our living room and kitchen. This project began in October when my in-laws came to visit and Julie and I set out to make the living room panels. Let's just say, I couldn't have done this without her. I have just started sewing (and when I say started, the only projects that I had attempted were several pillows which are now falling apart and took lots of tears and curse words to finish) and I am very intimidated by the entire process. Julie was great! We finished the two panels and Chris and Mike hung them. They looked wonderful. Well, it took me until very recently to get the courage to attempt the two for the kitchen. And with a little help from my fantastic and very logical husband and just a select few curse words (no tears, yay!!!), I finished them tonight. And they look fabulous, if I do say so myself! They are 107" long with grommets used for hanging. Overall the project was very easy and now I have the courage to try something else.

This weekend we went to the Around The World party on base. The pilot training program at Sheppard AFB is a Euro-NATO training program. Chris's fellow instructors and some of his students represent many of the NATO countries. It's very cool. We're friends with Germans, Italians, Dutch, Norwegians, and a Spaniard. This party has booths from every country featuring their best food and drink. We tasted all sorts of food last night including Paella, moussaka, Schnitzel, some sort of Norwegian salted, dried lamb shank (This was much like jerky. Chris found it wonderful, but it didn't sit well with me). The picture to the right is of a Dutch guy serving beer in a large hat that was supposed to look like a beer stein. The American table provided home made cookies and whiskey. Chris even worked the booth for a little bit, handing out whiskey to people and I'm sure selling them on the goodness of bourbon. The place was packed and we had a great time. This base is fantastic because they offer 3 annual events similar to this one: German Oktoberfest and the Dutch Queen's Birthday Party. The QBP is next up. Should be fun!!

16 Weeks

This past Sunday marked 16 weeks of pregnancy and I've posted a picture to show you all the progress. I'm starting to show a little bit here, but it could just be the result of the All You Can Eat Pancakes at the Pancake Feed on Saturday! Which was absolutely fantastic, by the way. But seriously, I am starting to show a bit. My pants still fit, but they are getting a little snug in the waist. Which is really exciting! It's so hard to imagine how it's going to look and feel being big. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

I had a doctor's appointment this past Monday and all is well. They did a blood test - the Quad Screen test. We haven't heard anything yet, and for this test, no news is good news. I'll probably call tomorrow to check and make sure that everything is alright, though. We have our 2nd ultra-sound scheduled for March 2. This will be at 20 weeks and they should be able to tell the sex of the baby at that time. Of course I'm completely prepared for my child to be difficult and not show us anything! Keep your fingers crossed for a cooperative baby!

Welcome!

Hello! Welcome to my blog. I plan on posting all sorts of things about my family and me. Right now it's just my husband, Chris and I. But before too long, our little family of two will become a little bit bigger family of 3. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and due in July. We live in Texas, far away from all of our family back in Kentucky and in California. So, hopefully everyone will be able to check in here for the up to the minute (who are we kidding, I won't be able to stay that on top of things!) information on All Things Troyer!
