Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday I had my 24 week check-up. I was supposed to see the doctor, but they screwed up the schedule and I saw the nurse practitioner instead. She's not my favorite, but it went alright. They said that I should see the doctor for the rest of my appointments and I'm going to make sure that I do. I had the glucose test that tests for gestational diabetes. I had to drink this sugary orange liquid, wait an hour, and then have blood drawn. I had heard that the drink was terrible and very difficult to drink, but I didn't think it was that bad. It really just tasted like very sugary orange soda. The worst part was drawing the blood. They didn't get enough from the first arm, so they had to take more from the other. Really not a big deal, but I hate having blood drawn! I'm just not very good at it. But I got the test results back today and everything was just fine. They also weighed me and though I'm not going to post (for all of the world to see) the exact weight, you can believe it was plenty. I was a little shocked to see the scale go up so high! She said it's not too much, but I was still a little taken aback by the number.

The best news from the appointment was that they scheduled a 3rd ultrasound for 4 weeks from now. Nothing is wrong, it's just that in the last ultrasound Raisin was curled up and they couldn't get a good enough picture of his heart. So they want to do another to make sure that all is well.

Alright, well that's all for now. I'm having some heartburn from dinner that I need to try to remedy. Good night!

24 WEEKS

Yesterday I was officially 24 weeks pregnant and everything is still going really well. Overall I feel great! However, my back has really started aching a lot, especially at work when I'm sitting at my desk. And I get pretty tired in the evening so I'm still going to bed fairly early. And I am also STARVING all the time. It's crazy because I'm someone who has always loved to eat, but this is ridiculous! I just wish I could stay full for a while. I try to make my snacks at work healthy - fruit or veggies (even though I'm not a big fan of either!), but it's hard to not just snack on junk food. But I'm trying... for Raisin.

Speaking of Raisin, Chris and I worked on his room this weekend. We put together the crib, which I love! And then painted the dresser and changing table. We also painted a wall in the nursery which turned out really great. I still need to accessorize the room and get a chair, but it's really turning into a lovely room. I think it'll be such a nice space for our little guy!

Last weekend I went to Atlanta for a Girls Weekend with three of my good friends from college. It's strange to think that I'm not going to be able to just take off and go out of town for the weekend soon. But I have this strange feeling that I'm not going to want to for a while either. We had a great time though. It was so wonderful to see the girls and just catch up!

I know that my life is getting ready to dramatically change, and I am so excited for it. I just can't wait to bring our little guy home from the hospital and be here in my house with my husband and our son. I can't wait!!! 16 weeks to go!!

22 Weeks - Over Half Way There

So today I am 22 weeks along and I cannot believe it. The fact that my pregnancy is over half way over is just amazing and a little sad. I'm really enjoying being pregnant with all of the new things happening to my body and all of the new feelings. But I absolutely cannot wait to meet our little guy! I just can't stop wondering what he'll look like and what he'll be like.

Over the past week or so I've really been feeling him move. This is wonderful! I've been waiting for this and now I'm positive that it's him. He moves around a ton and has been kicking me hard enough for Chris to be able to feel too. He moves a ton in the morning right after I eat breakfast. I think it's the glass of orange juice that makes him move so much. It's just the coolest feeling!!
Chris and I accomplished several things this weekend that make me feel better about preparing for Raisin. We ordered his crib yesterday and the stroller that my mom and dad are getting for us which also happens to include the car seat. Also, we've started picking out other items that we'll need and I'm feeling good about it. We still need to do a little bit to his room, but everything feels like it's coming along.

Okay, since this blog is about all things Troyer, I want to update you on Chris a little. He's training for the Kentucky Derby Mini Marathon in April and his training is going well. He was sidelined for a little bit with some back problems, but he's back to running. Today he ran a little more than 8 miles and he said he's feeling good. Well, tonight he's a little bit sore, but overall he's doing great! I know he'll be ready to go on April 25. And I can't wait to ring the cowbell and cheer from the sideline this year!! He's also been flying a lot! He was supposed to go cross country this weekend, but it was canceled due to weather. Instead they're going to Florida tomorrow morning and back home on Tuesday. Not the same, but they'll have a good time. And then next weekend he's going cross country again, but this time just to Fort Worth. And this works out well, because I'm heading to Atlanta next weekend for a girls weekend! Chris also just finished his first Master's class in Aeronautics. He's getting ready to start his next class in 2 weeks.

Anyway, things with us are great. I'll try to post more often. I promise I'll post more often after Raisin's born.

IT'S A ....

As you can tell by the pictures posted, our little Raisin is a little boy! Chris and I couldn't be more happy. It feels so good to know it's a boy and that everything looks good so far. It's so cool to be able to call Raisin "him" or "he" instead of it. The only thing about today was that they couldn't get a good picture of the heart. He was turned the wrong way and wouldn't move into a good position. The heartbeat was fine and sounded great, but they may try to order another ultrasound to see the heart better. Of course this would make us happy to have another chance to look at him and to make sure the heart is healthy. I go back to the doctor in about 4 weeks for another checkup. I also have to do the Glucose blood test to test for Gestational Diabetes. It's not really a worry, but they check everyone. Well, until next time...

20 Weeks

Here's the picture of me at 20 weeks. I am now officially half way through my pregnancy and I'm expanding nicely now. Chris says I look like someone put a tire pump in me and pumped up my belly and my boobs! I suppose he's right. I'm wearing more and more maternity shirts, but no maternity pants yet. Although, I am wearing that wonderful belly band that Krista bought me with almost everything. I'm starting to feel what could be little movements, but it could just be gas. But I like to think that it's Raisin.

Tomorrow is the big day! We go for my second ultra-sound tomorrow and will hopefully find out the sex. So then we'll know if it's a Raisin or a Raisinette! We honestly don't care either way. I just hope we can tell. It would be just like my child though, to be difficult. We'll keep our fingers crossed and say our prayers that all is well. We'll keep you all posted too!
