DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT

Yesterday, Chris and I went to the doctor for my weekly check up. I had gained 2 pounds since the last check up 2 weeks ago. I didn't think that was too bad. They did the Group B Strep test and we should find out the results of that next week. They also took blood to check and see if I'm anemic. I haven't heard from them yet, so I'm assuming that I'm good to go.

When the doctor was measuring my belly she was a bit concerned because she thought that I was measuring small so she ordered another ultra-sound. She figured it was just that the baby had dropped already, but she wanted to rule out anything else like a decrease in fluids. She pretty much confirmed that the reason was that Raisin had dropped when she checked my cervix. He has definitely moved down (which I had suspected) and his head is pretty much resting on my cervix. However, I haven't dilated yet and I haven't started to efface yet. She did say that my cervix was starting to soften though. So that's progress. I must say that the whole checking of my cervix thing was NOT pleasant.

Then we had our ultra-sound yesterday as well. I was pretty nervous even though Chris wasn't really. And they confirmed that everything was just fine. The estimated weight right now is 6lbs 2oz, but I guess it's tough to get an accurate estimate this far along in pregnancy. So the tech could have been incorrect. Either way, it looks like he'll be about 8 pounds if he goes to 40 weeks. Even though it was nerve wracking, it was such a nice surprise to get to see him again. I couldn't believe how scrunched up he is! We were able to confirm that what we thought was a foot, is definitely a foot!

Well, this weekend my mom is coming for a visit and then next weekend Mike and Julie are coming out. And then they're all planning on visiting again a few weeks after the birth. It'll be good to see everyone and spend some time with them before the two of us turns into the three of us.
