DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT

Yesterday, Chris and I went to the doctor for my weekly check up. I had gained 2 pounds since the last check up 2 weeks ago. I didn't think that was too bad. They did the Group B Strep test and we should find out the results of that next week. They also took blood to check and see if I'm anemic. I haven't heard from them yet, so I'm assuming that I'm good to go.

When the doctor was measuring my belly she was a bit concerned because she thought that I was measuring small so she ordered another ultra-sound. She figured it was just that the baby had dropped already, but she wanted to rule out anything else like a decrease in fluids. She pretty much confirmed that the reason was that Raisin had dropped when she checked my cervix. He has definitely moved down (which I had suspected) and his head is pretty much resting on my cervix. However, I haven't dilated yet and I haven't started to efface yet. She did say that my cervix was starting to soften though. So that's progress. I must say that the whole checking of my cervix thing was NOT pleasant.

Then we had our ultra-sound yesterday as well. I was pretty nervous even though Chris wasn't really. And they confirmed that everything was just fine. The estimated weight right now is 6lbs 2oz, but I guess it's tough to get an accurate estimate this far along in pregnancy. So the tech could have been incorrect. Either way, it looks like he'll be about 8 pounds if he goes to 40 weeks. Even though it was nerve wracking, it was such a nice surprise to get to see him again. I couldn't believe how scrunched up he is! We were able to confirm that what we thought was a foot, is definitely a foot!

Well, this weekend my mom is coming for a visit and then next weekend Mike and Julie are coming out. And then they're all planning on visiting again a few weeks after the birth. It'll be good to see everyone and spend some time with them before the two of us turns into the three of us.

36 WEEKS

I can't believe that we're under one month until my due date. It's so exciting! We've completed all of the classes that the hospital has to offer, so I guess we should be ready. I think we both feel pretty prepared, but I can say for sure that I'm still scared. I guess that probably won't ever go away!! This week we start going to the doctor every week to check my progress. I started packing my bag today so that we'll be ready to go whenever he decides that it's time.

I don't think that I'm really having any contractions yet, but I am definitely uncomfortable and having more days when I just don't feel well. I get pretty tired, which is frustrating to me. Chris and I went to Sam's Club last Sunday and when we left I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I guess it doesn't help that it's almost 100 degrees here everyday. And it is a luxury that I'm not working so I can take naps during the day when needed.

One thing is that, much to Chris's disappointment, my belly button still has not popped out. I'm not sure it will. Or maybe it's like a turkey timer and it'll pop out when he's ready. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

RAISIN'S ROOM

Here are a few pictures of Raisin's room. We have all of the furniture and bedding, we're just missing some things to put on the walls. His clothes are all washed and put away and the bed is all made up and ready for a Raisin!!!

35 WEEKS

Okay, so here is the picture of me at 35 weeks. Only 5 more to go! Just about a month, crazy! Still feeling mostly good. I've had a couple of days this week when I haven't felt as good. I'm getting a bit achy and pretty tired at times, but really I feel like I can't complain too much. I had a doctor's appointment this past week and all is still well. I had only gained one pound in the last 2 weeks! Woohoo!!

Chris and I have had a great weekend. Right now we just finished dinner and we're settling in to watch a movie. I made a turkey and spinach lasagna and it was wonderful! I'm looking forward to eating it the rest of the week, since it made so much. Last night we had Chris's birthday dinner. His birthday is this Tuesday, but we have the infant cpr class so we won't be able to do a big dinner. I will make him a good breakfast though since he doesn't have to be in to work until about noon that day. Well anyway, last night I made steaks with chimichuri sauce, taboule, and bacon wrapped shrimp. Chris did the grilling and it was fabulous. I've included a picture of him as well. Then for dessert, we had cupcakes from Maggie Moo's. Which if you don't know is delicious ice cream. We have two more to eat on Tuesday night. I can't wait!!!

34 WEEKS

6 weeks to go! I can't believe how close it's getting. Still feeling pretty good. I'm going for walks everyday so I think that getting exercise helps. I'm definitely uncomfortable though. And I'm not sleeping well. I have to wake up every 2 hours to use the restroom and then I have to wake up if I want to roll over! It's quite the production. This week we have the breastfeeding class and then a doctor's appointment. And then next week we have the infant cpr class. We're looking forward to all of these.
